First Steps

When helping others, I assist a person to live: to the heart of their nature.

What does this mean?

The answer literally varies from person to person. The Taoist practice I teach shifts with each person to uniquely but fully find answers that center their life. I often like to start with a simple question:

"If you had to take

an animal, a force of nature, and a mythical reference:

How would you write a sentence to describe yourself?"

As an example many years ago I answered:

"A breeze wrapped around a dragon who is a cat sleeping in the sun."

It's usually best to answer this question two times.
  • First in terms of where you are now, what you feel like you are now.
  • The second time I would like you to answer in terms of your dreams, where you envision or would like to be.
It's a helpful question to reveal a person's inner nature and to where it flows.

I hope you enjoy answering it for yourself. You are welcomed to share answers here. It's in sharing the heart does open up to grow more fully.

1st answer:
white tiger, dragons, and all sorts of life forms swirling down into the primodial black hole. (i didnt see the part about trying to describe how i feel now)
1st answer a) (where i am now/how i feel like i am now)
A white tiger with many flaws, still enjoying the search to directly experience himself, but saddened since so many of his friends from long long ago are now gone.

2nd answer:
a white tiger jumping from the edge of enternity to fall DOWN DOwn down onto the midnite sun.

Hmm... I currently seem to be a were-dragon, disguised as a lion, sitting on a beach gazing out upon a still, calm ocean.

As for the future...
I get only a vague sense of a horse, traveling The Way perhaps.
I suppose The Way might qualify as both a mythical reference and a force of nature?

This second is a bit less clear for me, as I simply wait to see where I will be going, and as what.

HI Paladin:

I think the nature of the way makes it able to fit in what ever group you would like it to be, while leaving it open to evolving into what you need it to be and then some :) later. So your second answer is one of saying "happy to become as I unfold into life" and for a Taoist that is as it should be

Hunhun: tiger is of the physical world, dragon is of the spiritual world...

so your second answer of the white tiger ties to beginning to feel as a ghost in this world and looking into a leap you are not quite ready to fully release into but you know it's the path of centering you truly are about to releasing into.
