Impossible is an illusion: When you live to full potential

I help some people with seemingly extreme impossible problems to solve.

As a Taoist... Impossible is just a limitation one imposes on oneself. As soon as anyone places a limitation on themselves, they have made their path harder, have reduced the potential solutions right at the start of trying to find the best answers.

Learning to live life a day at a time, and practicing balance and kindness is the best way to start.

It takes years to re-wire the brain's patterns but if you do so long enough you can change even aspects of oneself one would think is fixed. We are far more malleable and have more potential for self healing than what we give ourselves credit for.

The harder you make it to be to find your own peace, the harder your life's path will be.

Some people have been given greater challenges in life, If you are one, take it as a challenge and work against it until you become what you dream of to show everyone what is possible.

If you make a problem into a limitation up front then you have prevented yourself at the start from finding your own greatness. Everyone has the potential to be great, just some have the harder path which takes people to even greater heights in return, if you persist.

Weakness and Strength

Hilo is pretty wet.

We got 12 inches of rain yesterday.

It was a hectic two days fixing pipes and various other leak problems in our budding temple.

The water is kind enough to show us where the building is weak, going into it by the path of least resistance. In that I find strength and will over the next year build up form in the building to gently let it flow back into the river.

A day at a time, the sun is back out today and in the moment its time to catch up with my own falling pace of breath and life.

After a month of moving and shifting in a few weeks I will be back in presence to chat again and write some poetry.

A parting thought:

Who and what we are, are two vastly different conditions. Skip the debate of which is better and just enjoy yourself as is.

the day before the day before

Yesterday was

the day before the day before Christmas

a good day since it was (a day before)^2 squared

I was going to write a beautiful blog post why the day before the day before was such a special day.. but that was yesterday and now it is only the day before... and not so special anymore.

What is this all about the rush to buy , to consume our way with presents into becoming one, to buying our way into the hearts of others... to climb and be part of the light that is...

No special wisdom here today... too many people are trying to buy into the light rather than just being the light.

Be radiant

Living in the Empty Space

we are in the new space now.

nothing is unpacked

still just accepting the new space and having it accept us back

no rush to fill in the empty space... One should always be aware of empty space and then flow outward to how soul will be defined in the sharing of the space.

If you want your home / temple to be soulful then start in the heart of the empty space , retain that potential and just add to the side a touch of flare for fun and play...

Common Questions

A common question regarding Taoism is:

Should I consider it as a practice or a religion or philosophy?
To quote my home page on the Personal Tao:

Taoism is more than a philosophy or a religion. A Personal Tao is defined as:

The system of belief, attitudes and practices set towards the service and living to your true nature.

The practice of Taoism is to flow with life.

Practices are something you do. A practice never fulfills life directly nor should be used to measure a life. Rather a practice represents how you decide to connect out and explore life. People confuse practice to be meaning , to be a religion or a philosophy. That is a trap, religions or philosophy might use various practices but the practice itself should never define the system, if it does... then you have limited yourself at the start in that system and will never be fulfilled in your practice.

Taoism is living your life, it's all of the above. Those who try to narrow it down, are then in turn narrowing and limiting themselves in reflection.

A personal choice in the end.

What do you want it to be?

Amost There

My favorite line in Star wars is

Almost there.... Almost there....

At which point the poor fellow gets blown up for all his trouble...

------------------------------------------

That's the problem thinking of being "almost there..."
Especially: when we are always where we need to be right now.

To be almost there... just sets you up to be a target of how others desire you to be, rather than what you truly are. To be epic is just to be epic. Make your story by being your own story.

Know the trick isn't to skip ahead, isn't to rush into the fray as fast as you can, isn't to ....

It's to accept and know your place now fully as is.

December and Taoist Fashion Statements

This autumn it looks like stocks are falling as leaves

I barely even noticed December coming past me.

I was writing to a student about how people wear their problems. IF when not having enough problems they then take the smallest of their issues and magnify it to boost their ego , to hide behind so others don't re-act.

Think about that for a moment, how people wear their issues like clothes.

Our society doesn't like nude beaches and in a like manner it doesn't like it when people don't wear issues. If you walk around issue-less then watch how quickly people and society will begin to hammer on you until you are wearing some issues again.

Issues are like clothing.

It's just a question on how one decides to wear it.

But it's always possible to take them off, if you are willing to be yourself fully. Wear acceptance as your clothing and no one will bother you by hammering new issues into your life.

And that's an ancient Taoist Secret

But SHHHH: people rather be in fashion of the latest issues.....
