Emails in the Night

I get emails from around the world asking questions about Taoism. The other night I received a post from the Middle East. The email was very energetic and the person asked questions to help settle some angst.

What was interesting about this email was how it made me wonder who it was from.

For instance how do you know if an email from London offering you a million dollars is from either (a) the friendly hard working Nigerian scam artist or (b) a honest London lawyer?

The point being: what is it in an email that makes us feel it's authentic? In the Nigerian example the extreme idea of a honest lawyer breaks all sense of reality, so you know it's unreal. However, most other emails from strangers don't break the rules of reality so conveniently.

In my case after I read the email, I decided I couldn't tell if it was legitimate or from Homeland Security / FBI trying to determine if I was a security risk to America. I decided to show the email to a friend or two. Their responses were similar. That it indeed could be a fake email from Homeland security or it could be a honest email.

I do my best to respond to all emails and what was interesting is that I responded right away since I decided how I should answered the email would actually be the same in either case. That is with honesty and trying to be helpful. After all if it were some FBI agent, it was obvious they needed help as they were living a lie by sending out these testing emails to Taoist Peace Activists.

Think about this: the people the United States government fears the most are not terrorists, They fear the peace activists. The strange truth here is The United States Government supports terrorism, as fear supports this administration.

My position is very clear on this:

First:
The Bush administration is a Terrorist based organization that uses Fear ,Torture and Terror as means to maintain their vision of America.

Secondly:
I don't believe in resistance nor do I promote fighting. I advocate instead that each person needs to be themselves 100%. If the action of being yourself goes against society. Then so be it. You are not society: society is DICTATED by your actions. Be free, by not living in fear of being yourself.

So lets get back to that original email. To protect the identity of my new friend I will call her Joe. (Tricky, tricky: is Joe a he or she? You will never know now, I feel like I am in a spy novel now.)

I responded to Joe in a one page email which I will summarize here:

It's not that western life is bad. It's just that corporations and a greedy wealthy few have subverted freedom to mean totalitarian economic policy. Eventually this will change. All dictators fall, All.

If you want to resist these problems. Then learn how to laugh about how silly western society is. Laughter is the most powerful from of resistance. Laughter is the key as strange as this may sound.

Life is not simple is it?

Well it is simple, if you lead a simple life. Work towards acceptance, learn to laugh at anything that bothers you and to embrace everything as both absurd and wonderful at the same time... It's not for us to be perfect... It's up to us to be ourselves. It's up to you to be Joe. No matter what others might think, you just need to be yourself. Just don't ever ever, try to force someone to be what you think they should be. That is a sin. Even if you know in your heart someone else is doing something wrong, while you can discuss, talk and debate, you should never preach or force your ideas, since then you have lost if you do.

To be alive is to feel time,
so take the time,
go outside
feel the wind, the sun, feel life
embrace it...
pause...
stop for a second...
and take all that energy
focus inside your heart, spirit, your own spiritual motion
to become who you want to be.

Love and help those around you,
by being yourself first and foremost.

If you do that, then you can help the world.

This is why I share A Personal Tao for free. For precisely this reason. We do make a difference, just be being ourselves. I have already made a difference in helping you, and I didn't have to do anything other than be myself, to reach out and say hi, and share a moment with you ;)

may you have peace in your journeys

So anyways I have been chewing this over for few days and decided to share it since:

I know I have helped others.

Just by being myself.

We don't have to change the world.
We don't have to change ourselves.
We just need to be ourselves ;)

Everything then, sorts itself out with time.

Seer, Stars and Looking Inside

If you look up in the night sky what do you see?

If you live in a modern town... not much due to light pollution.

However, Ancients mapped the stars in great detail, to so much detail it surprised modern scientists believing in the need equipment and modern tools to penetrate the deep haze. Where the deep haze is in part, our own pollution: Including the pollution of preconceived notions.

If you close your eyes and examine what's in your body, what do you see?
If you live in a modern times... not much due to the pollution of our life styles. We ingest, digest and incorporate into our own bodies so many toxins and other pollutants: To be unable to fully feel and see within our own nature.

In a very similar manner to light pollution obscuring the night skies. Bad food, lax lifestyles, televised distractions and such end up obscuring our inner nature from our senses. To the point where we need Doctors, Hi Tech instruments, Priests and Doctrines to peer past these obstructions.

In ancient times: Taoist Masters in tune with their body, would mentally watch, map and trace out effects of herbs and other healing practices. This style of observation formed the foundation to practices such as QiGong, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs and how it all connected within the body.

If we learn how to live in Harmony with our own body.
  • We can self heal
  • We can explore ourselves freely
  • It becomes possible to discover more than just our surface nature.

In using, what others would label, my third eye, I have learned over the past 30 years how to see similarly hidden truths. Truths not hidden but rather obscured by our lifestyle. So while it would seem to be a mystical practice, it's more accurate to say: I am merely seeing things clearly, within acceptance and awareness of oneself. This is far from being a mysterious process. It's just being in a place to be able to view and be patient enough to observe.

Of course, getting to that spot of being able to see clearly, isn't very easy in an modern environment. It's a place very few people manage to find. I could instruct you exactly how to achieve this state. Yet many people wouldn't want to experience the initial discomfort or have the patience of 10 to 20 years it usually takes to climb to that spot.

In addition: since part of the very nature of being human is to change, especially every seven years or so (the famous seven year itch) many would get distracted and wander elsewhere during the process.

When I read patterns for others, I don't actually use cards, stones, reeds or any other medium as a mystical channel. Actually, it's the exact opposite. I artistically create an experience with those tools, as soulful instruments, so others can calm down in a moment of peace. I say artistically since the purpose of an art is to explore the nature of our soul. It's within this peaceful vision I weave that people can momentary see clearly, and then together I can guide that person through a journey to see inside themselves for a moment.

To be a seer is to see the soul clearly.

If you desire to be your own seer, to discover completeness in your own soul, then I recommend practicing QiGong or Yoga as a starting point. Each of these practices can be used as a path for purification. Just don't except over night results. Take the time instead to discover the movement of your life.

Waking Dreams

I enjoy wandering around the web and watching people wake into themselves.

Here is a beautiful example: Dreams.

:)

Freedom is being yourself without fear of how others define you.

It's just about being yourself.

Life's Lottery

Everyday I play the lottery.

And I don't mean by buying state lotto tickets. I mean by being open to life, always having ideas, testing things, playing around and always trying something new.

I look forward to each day, since I know I enable possibility for anything to happen.

Granted most often: nothing happens...

But more times than not: often the smallest things I set in motion years before will blossom unexpectedly and wonderfully.

To take me somewhere new.

Living a Taoist lifestyle, really is a simple matter of being open to life's possibilities rather than being attached to passing results.

In the here and now

To float upon whim and wind!

Time to write

I have started to work on some new Personal Tao Chapters.

Acceptance isn't purely a doctrine of non-action.
Acceptance surrounds and then extends the principles of Wu Wei.

Many confuse acceptance with resignation.
Acceptance embraces the Yin Yang of conquest / surrender

That last statement will catch people by surprise.

Acceptance is to see everything as it "IS": at times to leave what might be alone "as is". At other times to embrace and extend: to mold what "IS" to "BE" what you know it will become.

... Initial thoughts as I get ready to write.

Living to Acceptance is probably both the hardest and simplest thing to do, It's the basis of the most powerful of magic/perception of how to achieve personal completeness. So it's time to write a little more about how to walk a true path of acceptance.

Reflections of a Master

As a Taoist Master, at times I find life strange since so many different stories and expectations exist on what a Taoist Master would look like.

I see all those reflections of how people define a master. Then I look at myself within the third eye, with my own eyes, feelings, in the mirror, and then always laugh: Since to be a Taoist master:

Is to be very very human. With mistakes, flaws, happiness, completeness, calm, sadness, joy, breath and everything human rolled together with acceptance.

In writing this blog, I try to teach wisdom and acceptance. However, I know to show by example that to be human is to reveal all aspects of ones life: Openly.

Nothing is worth hiding, since to do so is to not be at one with yourself.

In this we can see our reflection and know truth.

Acceptance isn’t easy, but its wonderful. In that wonder is the path of a true Master.

People strive for perfection, and that's fine: but in living, all those "negative" aspects people like to suppress are actually the base of a ladder, a tool upon we climb up higher to become more. Never assume that a master sits on a mountain with no more steps to climb. The top of a mountain is a place of pause: and know the next lesson becomes how to fly. To continue walking upon the sky upon equally painful but less visible steps of life.

In that is the Eternal Path of the Tao.

Be beautiful: By just being yourself.
