History and the Bible

History is not truth, yet many expect it to be.

Stories of the past, are just that: stories.

It's not the truth which should be the focus, rather:
examine the patterns and meanings assigned to these stories. History is no different than reading tea leaves since what matters is how we use and move upon the story/history tale which makes the difference in our lives.

So now this post meanders to the Bible. I encounter people looking to it as a source of history. Some will show the errors to the tales, some will show how it matches to actual events.

And the point is : Not to get confused. Ok now bible thumpers of both sides (Atheists and Christians both) will hit me. It doesn't matter which stories are true and which ones are fables. As its about how we learn from the tales that matters!

I am not a Christian, yet I recognize the bible as a valid mixture of humanities stories. Some have truth, some are not, some have errors in transcription, some are... it all adds up to being a very human book. And as a result one way to examine ourselves within which to become better.

I have known many Christians who thru the bible have come to almost exactly the same place to which I as a Taoist live within. In that the secret is acceptance of life as life to be what we are: Human very human, each and every day a person. :)

These colors don't run but they sure do fade

So I was driving behind this car having a bumper sticker in the window which said:

"These colors don't run" with a picture of the america flag.

The funny thing the picture of the flag was faded to the point it had no colors, the flag was a sun bleached white. (It reminded me of sun bleached bones in a desert)

I guess those colors may not run, but they sure do fade with time.

Time moves all, and all fade away under its watch.
No matter how powerful, arrogant, defiant etc,
time works all to dust. The more defiant and the more one stands up against time , the faster it will erode and fade one down.

Of course if one moves with time then instead of becoming beached bones in the desert, one evolves into ever new expressions of living. Sadly this current generation of leaders seems determined to fade with the times.

Wishing Wells

Blogs are interesting reflections.

How should an entry look in a Taoist blog?

It's about wishing, that is to say Blogging is a modern version of the wishing well of course. Blogs are old fashion hand dug wells where the well walls are held together with stones of our stories. In the bottom perhaps the reader will find some water, helping us survive another day as the spirit needs such stories to thrive upon. People have thirsty souls.

If you look closely, at the right times a reflection of the reader is seen. This includes myself of course as I read my own entries. After all is said and done I read and wonder about what was written. Its a chance to look down into the soul and see, if indeed water is flowing in our life.

heh tonight I would say my well is dry, but that would be a lie, if only because at times I don't want to do the work of digging into myself.

Drinking of this water is to imbibe of our Personal Tao. Something which is always on tap if we take the time to dig into our soul.

Stories

Going thru some computer directories. Looking for some stories I wrote a while ago. Came across this entry in my electronic dairy instead:

---------------------------------------
Once upon a time two people walked away into unknown futures.
The man learned life without a poem in his heart would be hard.
The woman learned the world is a little smaller without dragons by one's side.

The story has many endings and the real ending is still to be found

However:

Once upon a time a man found a woman
They said hi and bowed politely to each other
In the strangeness of times they both smiled and became friends.
Life swirled and danced about unexpectedly.
But through everything they remain friends (even when not talking)
and they do live happily ever after, even if apart.
no matter which ending one reads in the story book.

----------------------------------------------------

And my life continues on
one story at a time...

Breath

The pace of life is not upon a sun dial of achievements

Pacing life to breath...

A single breath at a time to be oneself.

All achievements, even if being none,
will always be enough
If you truly accept yourself.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now I am experiencing extreme pain due to severe allergies
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In times of trouble, pain or intense...

Just concentrate on living a single breath at a time,
Deeply embrace feeling life in this breath.

It's amazing resolving everything:
From pain , to misunderstandings, overburdened calendars, to overwhelming situations...

Capture a breath releasing spirit as I am a breeze,
Within the swirling spark of living in an energizing breath (Prana)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now I am free of all pain, and smiling
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its pretty amazing, how it all cleared out,
Simply because I took this moment to embrace the Prana of my life.

I wrote this as I performed my simple meditation process of breath: to illustrate how to turn around a hard point in life even during extreme moments of pain.

Its beyond words how simple it is (even if it took me 5 years to get to a place where I can do this)

anyways I am now back to being functional so off to writing for me

peace...
